A private house in Shropshire with themes of Scotland and Greece!
This was a botanical wedding reception with hanging greenery and Edison light installations.
Sophie and Tom had a clear vision for the event which was Midsummer Night’s Dream, ethereal, rustic, floral and with Greek touches throughout.
With an undercurrent of Greek revelry running through the day, we set about creating and planning a village feel comprising of 3 separate marquees, one undergoing a complete transformation into a Gin den whilst the guests ate their wedding breakfast feast and were none the wiser.
The flowers were genius, courtesy of Emily Wisher and her team. She helped to design the steel runners for the hanging foliage above the tables- a van full of hops! The poles were winched into place with Edison filament bulbs hanging randomly over the tables to enhance the intimate feel of dining in a Greek restaurant. 234 vases were filled with flowers to run down all the tables that sat 190 guests.
The clear roof marquee was lit exclusively with candles. 482 to be precise! it looked incredible and truly helped to bring the outdoors inside. It gave the guests fantastic views of the garden during the meal, especially of the September sunset. As the marquee needed to be installed right up against the side of the house we left one side of the marquee wall-free to allow wisteria from Sophie’s parents house to flow in.
Along a tunnel from the main marquee was a further ‘dancing’ marquee. It was dressed to feel more like a nightclub, for this young trendy couple – offering a cool contrast to the dining marquee. It is in here that the bride and groom chose to house an awesome cocktail bar.
Outside, what had been the champagne reception area was now a gin bar and ‘chill out zone’, complete with rugs, sofas, fire pits, animal statues and many more eclectic items. We filled their garden with lanterns, fairy lights and potted plants.
We had especially looked forward to working on this wedding with Sophie & Tom, their creativity enabled our imaginations to run wild, we knew no idea would seem too over the top! A fantastic reception that will definitely go down in the local history books – Shropshire, Scotland and Greece all in one place!
Just wanted to say thank you to you and Simon for all your hard work this weekend. What a wedding! It was such an amazing day in a beautiful and unique setting! One of my friends took the attached photo, look how fab it was!
